Bose Blues: Fix for Misaligned CD Head?
Bose Blues: Fix for Misaligned CD Head?
I was all happy on Tuesday received title to 2000 Max SE w/ only 50K miles on it with very few problems, surely good for another 100K. Wed I pop a CD into the Bose deck, and up pops a message on the readout: "ERR", no sound. I insert head clean CD, it also reads ERR. In speaking with an audio friend he tells me that the head is likely to be mistracking and needs to be "reset". I searched the .org and found no reference to this type of error, hence my post.
I found a place that would clean, lube, & realign head for $140-270, depending on what is needed. I have to remove it at this price, too and it would be gone for a week. This sounded like way too much $$ for this. Options:
1. Pay the piper, have him do it. Probalby what I should do, but I can buy a new head unit for this $$.
2. Replace unit with _______?? Suggestions, anyone? Since this is Bose unit I imagine all sorts of compatability issues.
Any good combo cassette (for books, etc.) and CD/MP-3 players out there? I have decent amps from prio car so this remains an option...
