Visor LCD & PS2 Questions

Hey guys,
Im interested in getting an LCD for my visor but have a few questions as I'm a total newbie when it comes to LCD's in cars. Most of the lcd's made for visor's I've seen come with a single video in/out but then how exactly is sound done? Are there dinky little speakers built on the lcd units themselves or do you wire it somehow into your car stereo system?
What about LCD quality. I've seen some of these for under 100 and I have a hard time believing they're so cheap. Do the no-name brands offer crappy quality as compared to the more high end ones or are they basically all the same?

Also, is it a problem running the power wires for the lcd from the visor to their predetermined locations (Where would they run to anyways?)? I was planning on installing a PS2 (under passenger seat) to connect to the LCD but I think it would be rather difficult to have wires hidden all the way up to the visor from that location. Also what power sources are there to run a PS2 in a car anyways? I'm sure there's a car lighter adaptor but I was hoping for something more permanent and out of sight to run the PS2. Is there any other means to get power to a PS2 in the car other than the adaptor or buying seperate batteries for it?

Lastly, whats the largest size LCD you can fit comfortably in a visor for a 98 I30 (assuming the visor is the same as the maxima)?

Thanks in advance and if you have any detailed advice please feel free to give it. I'm all ears and would appreciate any help/advice/install guides/etc.

Wow... thats crap load of questions hehe.....

- sound will be coming from your PS2 and not your screen and will be going thru your HU with auxillary adapters.

- quality really varies on price. The very good screens have resolution of approx 330000pixels and this is what you will be happy with. No name brands with this resolution will perform as well as top of the line brand name units. Only sales ppl will tell you otherwise.

- Your screens will need to be connected to the remote power wire which will turn them on when hey is in the ignition, or you can wire them from the battery and throw in a switch so that you can decide when they go on or off.

- As for power to the PS2 you will need power convertor to change 12V to 120V power. Those are cheap and for PS2 you should look for 50W unit.

- As for the size... those also vary... i seen ppl have 7" or 4"... this is really up to your wallet and needs.

hope I could help

Thanks for the help but now I have a few more questions. I was browsing ebay and they had some fm adaptor thingie which routed the sound of the for the lcd through your fm unit..like channel 88.9 or something along those lines would play sound. Are those recommended?

Are there TV's which you can simply turn on and off. So if I were to route it directly to the battery, meaning it would always be receiving power I could simply turn the TV off with a button? I dont think i'd be happy with a TV that came on when my stereo was on or one that was on all the time. It's going to be in the passenger visor and since im driving I wont be using the TV all that much so having it on all the time seems rather pointless.

I saw some of thoe power converters on ebay as well but they all plugged into the cigarette lighter in the end. Are there ones which I dont need to plug into that..which I can hide the wiring for and maybe connect directly to the battery, etc. Since I can easially turn off the PS2 to kill the power drain if I'm not using it?

Ill keep looking for a higher resolution lcd. Most of the ones I've seen (again on ebay) seem to be the lower end ones with a 225,000 pixel resolution (930x230ish i think). HOpefully the jump to a higher resolution wont increase the price obscenely.

If anyone has pictures of a LCD in their visors too I'd love to see them. Only ones ive seen thus far are doctored images on ebay auctions or pictures of just the product. Not a full install from a real car.

Thanks for the answers crazyravr
