Infinity Basslink
Infinity Basslink
Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy one, but want some feedback from those who either have one or have heard it in a Max. I would really appreciate some feedback as I am lookin at one on e-bay. Thanks!

I dont belive he has BOSE. It doesnt sound too bad at all, but it hits the lows better then it does the rest of the notes. Its frequecy response inst really too wide. 25-150Hz if I remember my stats correct. For its size its awesome but u cant really bump fast hitting music like rock, metallica, AC/DC, ect... and have have it stay accurate the whole time. But it does sound exceptionally good, especially considering its size. I was also considering getting 1 just to have bass til I get a bigger and better setup.

So did you leave your Bose sub in? I am debating whether or not to take it out and see if sound is better using the hole as a port.

I now installed an aftermarket HU with a peripheral connector for the stock speakers. My sub is running right off the hu now.

Isn't the basslink just an amplified subwoofer? If so, you would not want it hitting beyond 80hz anyways....anything higher is usually the mid-bass's job.

I have a Basslink... it's decent. It took me a while to get my settings right, but once I found them I was very satisfied. It takes up virtually no space in the trunk and gives me enough bass to keep me happy. I would recommend removing the BOSE sub to port the trunk. I do not have BOSE in my car, and I found that when I had the armrest closed, the bass was relatively muffled. I used to just open the armrest/ski hole, but then I ported my rear deck and put a speaker grille on it. Muuuuuuuuuuuch better
There are a couple of pictures on my homepage.

THanks for feedback. One question. The one on e-bay does not come with the remote. Do you know where I can get one? Is it necessary to have? Also, I am going to be getting this installed at Circuit City. Can you tell me all of the wiring/kit I will need so I can buy it ahead of time? I'm sure C.C will charge me an arm and a leg for the cables. WHere can I purchase the Cables cheap?
I highly doubt you would want a sub to play above 80hz...never mind 400hz....in most systems, frequencies are cutoff well below 100hz to the sub bass. From 70-100 up, the midbass takes over.

Not necesarrily, U want the subs to play the low note very well obviously so if the sub u get has a short freq range like that, its usually sloppy or in other word farts. The basslink doesnt fart but isnt too accurate with fast paced music. U want a sub thats got a freq range thats atleast from 20Hz-400Hz. This is just my .02 in no way am I a sterio guru or nothin. I just got some 19' Stinger Hyper Series RCA interconnects because they were on sale and very cheap, and an 8 gauge Stinger power kit. Works great for me.. no interference or anything. Cables will need to be at least 16 feet long.
This is a very simple job which you can DEFINITELY do yourself if you just take your time. Most of the time is spent removing trim pieces and figuring out how to run the power from the battery into the car (easy to find, hard to get at), and then figuring out how you want to mount it in the trunk. If you have the time and the energy, you could save a lot of money! Plus, you'll have the satisfaction of having done it yourself
I would like some more input from you about the infinity if you don't mind. How does it sound? Did you remove your BOSE sub? The guys at the stereo shop by my house are trying to talk me out of the basslink. They say that I would be better off going with a 10" sub and separate amp. They also said the Basslink sounds much better in trucks-of which they were supposedly designed for? I have never heard one in a car so I just want to know how the sound is. Thanks

Since then I have upgraded to an Alpine XM headunit with SUB outputs. The Basslink really thumps and having the in cabin remote is awesome. The other attractive option is being small in size. I have it mounted in the rear left side of my trunk. I still have almost a full trunk to work with.
My car thumps more than enough for me and I really enjoy the sound. If I have the need to crank my music I can.
I would recommend this set up for anyone looking for a $219 amplified subwoofer.
