Questions for BigDogJonx

1) Do you have a write-up of how you made your spare
tire well enclosure?
2) Did you have any prior experience working with
fiberglass?
3) How much mounting depth do you have in your enclosure?

I am thinking (very seriously) about building a similar eclosure for my sub, because I could really use the extra trunk room, AND I love the stealthy look. Anybody else who has done this please feel free to drop comments, and other tips or tricks anybody can give would be greatly apreciated!!!

I just thought that this would be a good question to ask in public, so that others might benefit...

Also, were there any problems with rattles, and if so, how did you fix these? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

When I did mine, (similar to dixits) we didn't have too much experience with fiberglass. It's messy and you better not breathe it in, but very cool. Since you won't see it, smoothness isn't important. Not sure how thick we got it, but it's pretty thick. Floor is raised up about 3-4" and it works great. I wouldn't say you can't do it, but I worked with a friend that had at least blown glass for scale flight planes so we didn't die.

How thick did you make the fiberglass walls? 1 inch or more? What about rattles, did you have any problems with those?

The walls are probably 3/4 to 1 inch thick, it set flush so nothing rattled. It's made as much out of wood as possible, you want as little glass as you can get away with. The trunk rattled like a mug though until I fatmatted the entire damn thing, now I get a soft thud every now and again, but no ghetto rattling. 1000 watts will do that

My sub will get about 900 watts peak and 500 rms(Eclipse Aluminum 12"), so it sounds like I might have to go get myself some dynamat extreme. How long did it take you to build it (the box)?
