can i see 3rd gen antenna when radio is off?

can i see 3rd gen antenna when radio is off?
went to nissan today and got a new antenna and put it in myself. when the radio is off the antenna goes down but still sticks up about an inch. can i see somebody's antenna to see if it's supposed to be like that?
