My custom trunk, just starting, dont laugh =)
Well, for the past week, I have been working on customizing my trunk. I had to stop for a bit because of finals and so forth. Yesterday I began to proceed with my project. I bought 3/4" MDF wood from Home Depot, I measured the wood there and asked them to cut it. They didnt do a good job, so I had to recut the sides slightly so they were straight. I bought all the supplies needed, and began to work. Here is a pic of the outside of my house where I worked, I know, not professional like, but its the best I can do with a low budget and a one man team. =P
My Work Area LoL
Due to low batteries on my digi cam, I couldnt take detailed photos. A couple of hours later, this is what I ended up with. BTW, I got my inspiration from Freddie (97gles) thanks for the pointers

I wanted to finish but then it started to get black, and it rained like crazy. Its been raining ever since. I know its not that good, but I think for my first time at it, I didnt do too bad. BTW, the little peice of wood is just there to make the boxes even with each other. The trunk floor slopes downward, so I will have a 2 x 4 running across the bottom/front of the boxes. Keeping them sturdy, aligned, and in place. The boxes look huge, and are huge! They are calculated to have the right amount of cubic feet of air to make each sub sound perfect. Yes I did take out the displacement of the sub and thickness of the wood, etc. before I made the box, took me a lot of calculating and drawing before I actually started. Again no laughing, just let me know what you think. Thanks!

Well my idea was to kind of create a space in teh middle for easy bass flow. By angling I probably would be using more space, and then having lots of small areas free and not useful. Angling the boxes would most likely remove the middle space, and also you have to remember that you can't angle too much, or else the subs will cancel each other.

I think you're doing ALOT more work than you could. Unless you already thought of that. Well...in different ways I see it - It'll be phat. Are you going to carpet the boxes?

Well, I had to think and draw up a plan of the boxes before I actually did anything. Measuring the trunk, finding out the specs on the subs, the wood, calculating cubic feet of air, etc,and still have enough room for my amps and all other things. When the setup is finished, it will be carpeted, gonna look all nice and pretty

Sorry for not keeping you guys up to date, school and work is killing me, but I was finally able to finish the two boxes for my subs. Hoenstly I was a little nervous because I wasnt sure if it would sound good, considering this is the first time I actually made subwoofer boxes from scratch. I used lots and lots of caulk (inside, outside, and between each peice of wood) so absolutely no air would leak out. I think it sounds really really good. I can tell that the subs kick harder and sound a little more clearer now. My volume goes up to 40, but I dont go past 15 because of a lot of bass, and plus I dont have everythign finalized. All the bass options are on its lowest level, which means I cant wait till everythign si complete to start creating some heavy bass. I'm going to take some pics of what I have so far when I get out of work.
