better signal to noise, less distortion, and probably about the same amount of true power.

They said Alpine receiver. I think they meant HU. In which case I would use the seperate amp.

good point.

Well, you have the amp so try it out. If you don't like it, you can always replace it.

Profile is not a very good brand. THat said, install it and see if it meets your needs. I imagine that it will put out around half the rated power.

What it comes down to is you get what you paid for.

Cali Amps (Profile) do amplify your speakers, however they do not put as much time and research into their amps as other reputable makers do.
The Profile Clarus CL600M is rated at 450x1 @ 2ohms for $169.
Now that is not a bad price for the amp, but when you hook up this amp, with lets say a JL 250/1 (250x1 @ 1.5 to 4ohms) side by side in the same box, car, subs, etc you will hear and feel a difference.
Even though the JL is less powerful (on paper) you are geting true raw CLEAN power.

It all depends on your taste and budget. I personally would put the extra $ and get a more reputable brand.
By the way I had a PPI 250x1 pushing 2 12" back in the days and that amp pounded those subs, you would swear that I had a bigger amp!
I then changed it out for an MTX 250x1 class D amp, and it really could not compete with the PPI (in my opinion) lets just say that I had an MTX up for sale soon after.

By the way always look at THD (total harmonic distortion) when buying audio equipment if you want the cleanest possible music.
