common solution for trunk ratttle and rear deck vibration
common solution for trunk ratttle and rear deck vibration
obviously some kind of sound deadener is used. have yall foudn any cheap alternatives to extreme dynamat or the spray foams that cost around fifteen dollars a can. I want to do all 3 places(front doors rear deck and trunk) but the last 2 are what cause the most annoyance. I was thinking about buying one of the paint on adhesives as suggested by a user on caf caraudioforum.com but i think that iwll be more work than the spray can ,expanding foam or sheets. any suggestions my car is 3rd gen. here is pics of areas www.geocities.com/azmalu/deadening.html
egg crates help for the rear deck. I also sound dampened the top with some **** called fat mat. I still have about 50 feet of it left over that I don't need. On there web site 35 feet sells for 50$. I could sell ya 50 feet for 50$. Email me if your interested. The stuff seems to be working real well for me. I covered my entire trunk, front door panels, rear seat and rear deck, plus used egg crates in the tire well, and rear deck.
see i live in southwest so they dont have peal and seal jiffy seal protecto wrap etc at HD or Lowes I ve been posting and reading on caf for a few years now and this car has serious rattle issues compared to my first car (85 volvo) so it needs to be dealt with. dr082 what areas did you cover and how much did you need for those? im thinking about buying either brown bread or edead 2 its about a buck per sqft . did you use the egg crates in trunk lid or jus the sheets do you have pics on a pge or pics you can send me gq602@hotmail.com www.geocities.com/azmalu add /deadening.html to get to pics of doors and rear deck(bottom of page link to max) is what ive done so far.
with sound dampening I covered the entire trunk. I also cover the front doors and door panels, and I covered the rear seat, and entire rear deck (around the bose speakers.) Then I filled all the indentations of the rear deck with pieces of egg crates especially at the back where the deck meets the glass. Thats very important. The only thing I have left is finding how to stop the brake light thing from rattling.
what brand deadening did you use? the stupid break light is the main cause of rattle in my car. I dont know how to pull of the whole cardboard thing out to do all the work or the break light. any tips i see the little screws on the side of the break light but still doesnt come apart. also for the doors did you fill the big openings with egg crates or just matt the metal parts? any pics here is what i tried but was not satisfied with resutls on rear deck www.geocities.com/azmalu/deadening.html

I need to redo my rear deck lid myself. I got it mostly rattle free, but some songs knock it to all hell. The key is the brake light and keeping everything from hitting the glass. What weatherstripping have you guys used for that?

yeah its true especially if you live in areas where it gets 100+ like az. there is a current thread on caraudioforum user spacemonkey 5000+posts and i think chem engineer is testing all the brands and posting results soon http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb2/sh...8&pagenumber=3
Gotta bring it back alive. Anyway what I think with that rear light is took it out ans coated the life out if jet with plastic dip/sound damoening spray. Rhbberwise spray type stuff ans then thru a couple piece of fatmat under it and made sure jr was snug ans helped a lot. Workimg on taking the whole rear deck ans seats out ans do the same spray then line it with mats. Hey the more the merrier. Can't hurt. Ans I got some foam sealant spray I found I'll try to use I'm some place ans see if if helps.
