Getting headunit to work with Bose

I am seriously considering buying a new headunit. I really like the Pioneer models but the intallation guy told me it wouldn't work because the adapter would burn up at 45W. The Pioneer I like is 50Wx4. He said that the adapter is $50 and gets the Bose to work without redoing the whole car but I can only run 45W through it. Is this true? He didn't even ask what year my car was so I am hoping he doesn't know what he is talking about. Thanks!

How are you going about it? I got a second opinion from Best Buy today and they said that I will have to redo the entire car with new speakers and new harnesses and everything. Then he said the sound quality wouldn't be as good. I know there is an easier way to do this!

I just called Crutchfield and they fixed me up, I hope. They say this adapter will work. I was $50 and its item # is 142C4NN03. I bought everything so it should be here within a week. I will let everyone know how it goes.

What the guy told you was very misleading on his part. It will work. Although it is Highly recommended to change all the speakers as well, the adaqptors do work. As far as headunit power...there are absolutely no radios actually giving you 50 watts X 4, typically you will recieve about 13-18 watts X 4

I just want my Bose to be a little bit louder. I'm not about to rip out everything and spend 2 grand just to make my trunk rattle. It sounds pretty darn good with a Delphi XM reciever with the cassette tape adapter because you can make it louder than stock by adjusting the Delphis output. If the max volume was 50, I'd be happy.

Yup, you are right. I got everything installed today and it works great. The only problem I had was getting my antenna to go up/down. Can I make it so it is only up when my radio is tuned to AM/FM? I saw somewhere to wire it in the ACC wire but then it will be up all the time. Does my Pioneer headunit have anything to help me out?

Pioneer only has one accessory wire, it is used for your power antenna as well as amp turn on. So short of adding a switch inline, no there is nothing that can be done.

Well I guess i will be putting it on a switch. I guess the antenna will go up whenever 12V is put through the wire? Also, what about the dimmer wire. Where is the best place to hook that up to?

you dont need any sort of "bose adapter" to make the system work, nor do you need the entire car to be re-wired. All you need is Metra harness 95+ Nissan and thats it!! $16.99

e-mail me and ill explain

Well I bought this $50 adapter from Crutchfield and it works. It has gain adjustments for all 4 speakers too. I guess it wasn't necessary but I just wanted to be safe after talking to the installer at BB and CC. Any ideas where to run the dimmer wire?
