I'm not familiar with Kove speakers so I looked at them. The ZM series has 16 to 18mm of XMAX and the prices were $250+. An Elemental Designs 12" (low end model), Adire Shiva, Dayton DVC or Dayton DSQ should all be comparable for around $150. I've read about very successful installs using these drivers on other boards and I have used the Shiva and 12" DVC in home subs with great success.

The U-2 series has 22 to 24mm of XMAX for $900+. The Stryke AV-12 will give you the similar XMAX (23mm) for less than $200 and it's made by TC Sounds, the same company that makes Elclipse subs. For around $350 you can get a Better Audio 12" or for around $400 you can get an Adire Brahma 12" both with XBL^2 motor technology. If you haven't read up on XBL^2 go to Adire's site. For around $500 you can get the Adire Tumult (when the get production ramped up) which has the XBL^2 motor and 33mm of XMAX.

The best price/performance ratio would have to be the Blueprint '03 series that are being sold at Audioliquidators.com. They were manufactured by Destijl Engineering in Las Vegas but the company went under. BTW, Destijl also manufactures Adire's high excursion drivers.
