i did not know this was possible....

i just finished installing my Rainbows and they were sounding magnificent until... POP! szzzz.. and a REEEKING smell like someone burned a power supply in my car.... and no sound out of any of my speakers.

I didn't get a chance to amp it, yet. could that be the reason? pulling too much power can bust an amp? aughhhhh... tell me i don't have to replace the HU....

help...

I'm not sure I would plug those Rainbows into another head unit, unless you want the same thing to happen. I'd return them, and get some better speakers.

 

you have no idea what you're talking about 'better speakers'.... do these look like speakers that i need better speakers?

it's more like i might need to get a better HU... all i need to know is if it's possible to pull too much power to kill the amp on the stockies and if the HU is salvageable...

 

you didn't say what kind of Hu u are running...but that shouldn't be an issue...something must have been wrong with the HU all along...the fuses should protect it. More details on the HU would help.

 

it was the stockie HU. non-bLose.

 

hmmm...maybe you had a short somewhere...never heard of someone blowing a HU just installing speakers...but who knows.

I just installed the same headunit on the weekend. It's great and so many features.........I never tought a headunit would make so much difference in sound quality.

It is a little hard to learn and use all the functions.

 

hehe.. VERY cool. I'm waiting to see how much i can get hooked up on it as of yet. Ebay has it for $279. I'll see how much the 'martha stewart connection' can get me.. lol
