If you have an aftermaket radio, you can hook it up to the remote wire that it supplies, so that whenever you have the radio on, the amp(s) turn on. If you have the stock headunits, you can wither connect it to the antenna or even teh ignition wire, basically something so that when you turn the radio on, the amp will turn on as well, no reason why you would want teh amp on if the radio is off. Also, try posting in teh audio and electronics forum. Welcome

on my aftermarket stereo, i just put it into the power antenna connection, works great. make sure you remove your trim and moldings so you can hide the wires under the carpeting, and taking out your back seat isn't a bad idea either. just my .02

Here is the answer that you are looking for:

Aftermarket radio- blue remote turn-on or pwr antenna wire.
Stock Bose- Power wire at the rear bose amp (splice in)- see the audio forum for wire color codes.
Stock Non-bose- tap off of cig lighter pwr wire. This will leave the amps on any time that the car is on, but those are the breaks.

Note- IF, and only if, the stock non-bose puts the antenna up on all stereo functions (as opposed to the Bose, which puts the antenna up ONLY with the tuner), then you can use the power antenna lead behind the radio or in the trunk.

I have mine hooked up to a rocker switch with the power coming from the battery. That way I can turn the amp when I want. Sometimes I just don't want to hear a lot of bass.
