HELP Audio/Video Install Questions!

OK, I have a '96 with BOSE. I want to keep the stock speakers and replace the headunit with a mini DVD/MP3/CD/VCD Player (in the glovebox) that only has RCA outputs (no MOSFET 4x??wt). How do I connect the RCA outputs to the 4 +&- speaker leads?

Also I plan on putting a 7 in. LCD in the spot where the BOSE was. How much custom work will this take?

HELP is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

you have to get a Nissan stereo wiring harness and pair up the left and right speaker wires and hard wire them with male RCA ends. However you may also need a line level amplifier (AKA line driver) to boost the signal from the player. This is because your RCA voltage is probably about 1.5-2 volts where the Bose HU is about 9 volts. This means without the line driver it will work but it will not be very loud. Also remember to put switched power to the blue and white wire in the aftermarket harness this powers up the bose amps. You can just tie it into the red wire in the aftermarket harness.

Thanks. So, I have to get a 2v-9v line driver, and then solder the 4 left channel wires to the left rca cable and the 4 right channel wires to the right rca cable?

you will connect the left speakers to a singe rca and likewise on the right. The line driver does not come in voltages, just gain levels. Any should do fine.

Hey plurco, thanks for the help. Is there any way I can talk to you on the phone or on AIM, because I have some more questions. My AIM is tupac20121. Thanks again.

You can use a few of the pieces from Audio Control, as far as a line driver goes. The easiest way would be to use the FOUR.1 EQ in the third DIN location. It is a line driver/eq/volume control. Good Luck. You may end up with some noise though...money would be better spent on some speakers that actually sound good.

Are there any devices that have a RCA Level input and Speaker Level output with a line driver?

As far as the speaker level output, just buy an inexpensive RCA cable, and cut it in half. You can then wire it to the speaker inputs. Also, you only need a 1 meter cable.
