Aiming subs

I have a question regarding the way in which a sub is placed in a trunk. Should the sub be aimed toward the rear of the car (the opening of the trunk) or aimed into the passenger cabin? My focus is by FAR on SQ NOT SPL. I tried to do a search, but nothing really came up. I've always heard to aim it toward the rear, which I've always done, but I just wanted to make sure this is correct. I have a single 12" Diamond Audio M6 sub in a sealed enclosure.

Just aim it at the rear unless you don't want strong bass.
