Had Pioneer HU installed, antenna goes up whenever it's turned on

I had a double-din Pioneer HU installed (I bought it from an Org member) and the installer at SoundTrack said that it doesn't have an antenna plug in it, so the antenna has to go up whenever it's turned on (even if I'm just playing CD's). I hate this...

Basically, my only option is to unplug the antenna, right?

How do I go about doing that? I don't listen to the radio anyways, so I guess that's what I'm going to have to do.

thats something all pioneer does. I had pioneer premier 840MP and it does the same thing no matter what u r playing (radio, cd, mp3). You can do something where the antenna wont go up but HU will still work but not sure what would happen when u try to play radio. Small sacrifice though for having a good HU

If you really wanted to, you could add a toggle switch in line with the power antenna wire. Then you can turn the antenna "off" and it will go down. As Meccanoble said, all Poineers do that.

On the back of the deck are 2 blue wires. One is pwr ant and the other is rem turn on. Some shops just plug and play and don't read which one is pwr ant. Should just be able to plug the blue pwr ant wire in and it will work fine. Will only go up when radio is on.

WRONG!!

all Pioneer radios if you knew anything only have ONE remote line output on them. Kenwood, Sony and Alpine for exxample have two outputs on the rear, one for power antenna and one for amp turn on. The only way he can solve this problem is buy using a mini toggel switch inline with the power-antenna lead. Thats what i had to do with my Pioneer.

...make sure you know what your talking about first before posting wrong information

gosh, what it must be like to be you (ANT). I apologize co for speaking out of turn. There is only one rem turn on/pwr ant wire. Most other manufacturers have 2. As erty said, put a toggle on it if it's that annoying. As for you ant, it's an information forum. I made an honest mistake. If you can live with it, I'll try to. Thanks

I just unpugged mine since I dont listen to radio anyways. it still works good around town in most places. I unplugged mine straight from the antenna mast itself. theres a harness there near the car jack is.

Oh, cool... that's probably what I'll end up doing... I don't think I really want to deal with a switch. And I don't really listen to the radio.

Thanks for all the replies
