anybody running a screen and just one other dvd/cd headunit?
anybody running a screen and just one other dvd/cd headunit?
anybody here running a setup with a screen, stock bose speakers, and an aftermarket headunit that has dvd/cd-r/etc capability? if so, what is your setup and what do u think of it?
ya, im actually lookin for opinions on a dvd/cd player replacing the bose head unit completely, and using that as a single din in addition to a screen and the stock bose speakers.
If you're the type of person who cares extremely about the visual quality of the screen, make sure the lcd you buy is active matrix or tft. The microvision screen that is sold on these forums is pretty nice, but there are bettere such as the Farenheit screen.
As for the head unit in the bottom single din, there are many, I don't know much about units but I've been looking at the Pioneer DVH-P7000 DVD receiver. I've talked to someone who has it and they like it a lot.
More info on the unit here
As far as installation and stuff, I haven't done it myself, but you can try to find and ask redmax or phatmax who also has a gallery of his setup here

His came out real nice, I hope to have mine like his. The only problem is I have a standard so my shift **** may get in the way of the Lcd screen. I might have to install a short shifter.

yes, that's exactly the setup i was looking for. it seems that headunit does just about everything (i guess except play mp3s). any other single din headunits you were looking @ w/ dvd capability?
yeah, the panasonic hu in my audi has dvd/mp3/tv tuner and fold out active matrix lcd in single din unit size. theres a separate box with all the plug ins that is installed in the dash but hidden from sight.
from my understanding, when replacing the headunit.... to get sound you could bypass the bose amps, or purchase an adapter? which is preferred and i don't want to sacrifice the way my bose system sounds now (i think it sounds good)
Can the standard dvd/cd/cdr etc...read gps mapping discs? What would be neaded to run a navigation system? I really want a screen with dvd capability, to read gps maps....I dont really see the need for it when only watching movies or playing games!
