Ok, so I guess the 6.5" Infiniti speakers in my car right now are not really fitting, right?

Actually, 6.5" speakers will fit, but the best size are the 6.75". Not that it really makes a whole lot of difference - there just aren't too many 6.75" aftermarket speakers to chose from.

MR. max5spd, just in case you need help, 6-3/4 = 6.75
and yes your Infiniti 6.5" speakers will fit, although you are neglecting yourself fuller sound, and creating unnecessary air gaps by choosing a smaller speaker that doesn't seal the 6-3/4 opening...Thanks for playin'

MECP is Mobile Electronics Certification Program, it is a stupid test that anyone with a 5th grade reading comprehension level can pass by reading a book the day before the test. When I got "Certified" I thought the test was the biggest joke in the industry. The best thing for you to do is to cut a 1/4 inch thick spacer ring to mount the speaker to the factory spacer without any air gaps, and use a sheet of Dynamat Xtreme to seal it off.

Everyone is wrong? LoL Ive done more than you can count supposed 6.75s with 6.5s. Trust you? Why because you are MECP certified? LoL I have hired and fired more of them than I can count also. Certified means nothing without true experience.

Neglecting fuller sound? Being that most 6.5s are oversized to begin with to be able to fit most applications you are losing nothing. All that a 6.75 speaker is, is a marketing promo for more sales of a "Special" size to make more money. Regardless of what is says the cone diameter is still the same. Just larger spacer with more screw hole options. And a gap? LoL I hope you dont leave those in your installs. Me? Never happened.

6 3/4" vs 6 1/2" speakers - not much

I agree - the 6.75" speakers are exact fit, but so are most 6.5" speakers. It just depends on who makes them and which type of mounting hardware they use. The Infiniti Kappa speakers are the bomb, though! They make the factory (Bose) sound bad - much better stereo imaging, better sound field, more separation, clarity and since they're 4ohm speakers you effectively turn the amp into a 300watt head unit. (the Bose OEM are 6ohm, cut resistance by 50%, increase power out by 50%)

I'm a professional singer, so I appreciate the difference! The original equipment is just too 'muddy'...

it's just that you made it seems like getting MECP certified is all high and mighty, then you came back around and contradicted yourself by saying the test was the biggest joke on earth. so technically, anyone can get in right? my $.02

Anyone may take the test. Like the old ham radio test.

Speaking to Don specifically, have you figured out how to print a receipt yet? Enquiring minds want to know. As well as the better business bureau. I have had my home ansering machine turned off now for way too long now. Don't worry, this message can still be deleted real easy. Mumble, mumble, mumble. Tick tock ya know?

I have the new DSOTM DVD in my old Samsung spinning around downstairs. It's pretty good. Funny how fast technology gets old. About 3 years from new to old is the the standard.

Now Don, you are the one being childish with that comment. I kept it to email and phone calls that went unanswered for the past what, month or two? You know all of my contact info as I left it in the emails and voice mails for the past above mentioned period of time. Go ahead and take it another childish step further, blame it on Fed Ex. I said before that posts would go on the forum if needed. That was 2 - 3 weeks ago. Go make yourself a cup of coffee if you need something to speed you up. I don't know how long Fed Ex will give us for a claim. May be anything that goes beyond a month is too late. Maybe you should start including Invoices or receipts in your packages?

The answering machine is turned off so that I can receive your fax. I am losing contacts and productivity this way. You havn't lost anything, you cashed my check as soon as you got it. Should I check my bank receipts to see when that was?

Sure check all you like, but the fact that you are taking up space on someones legitimate question is not needed, if you wanted to post on here make your own thread, dont take up someone elses. Also you could have saved this post especially by just providing the date like I asked for in the last one.

I think the question regarding speaker size was answered. But if there is a new question feel free to post. I responded to the question asked about certification and added some other info. Sorry, I didn't intend to offend anyone.

I think I am still the king of typo's. Maybe it's because the keyboard I use at work is different, old fashioned. Typo's there must be kept near zero and always corrected.

I far more than exceeded my requirements for First class,Autosound specialist, and Security specialist exams, this still doesnt make me a "know it all". You sit there with your basic installer degree and think you know everything. This is a forum to help people understand things better and to ask questions not to advertise your low level degree to make yourself sound better than everyone else.

And yes all of my certifications are up to date. As well as the series of tests that I had to take for DEI,Kicker,Eclipse, etc

Any size speaker up to 8 inch will fit in the door with minor modification. The rear deck can hold up to 15 inch speakers in the 4th gen max.

Talk about childish. Now I feel like I'm back in first or second grade. Cals - "Mrs. Dinkledorph Donny pinched me!" Pearl - "Did not!" Cals - "Did too! Ouch, Mrs. Dinkledorph! Ugh, Ugh!"
