XM and/or Sirius...can i use a monitor for display....

this is the thing. i would love to have xm or sirius. what i dont like is having that extra din display right there. i personallly think it would look nasty in my car. reason being i have a tv/dvd in my dash. my question is this: have they released or does there exist an XM or Sirius unit that comes with just a tuner and plugs into a video input. that way the displays(songs, stations, etc..) can display on the screen.

thanx guys.

No, you would need a flip-out type headunit that was already satellite-ready. You cant get a video input to a standalone screen.

Does your TV not have its own separate tuner? A friend of mine has a flip out TV in his truck and he has his XM tuner hooked up to his TV tuner and it shows on the screen. Everything is Pioneer though so it all works together. Otherwise you are out of luck.

i have an eclipse 8022 flip out dvd. the master control contains 2 sets of video/audio inputs. supposedly eclipse was releasing an xm ready head unit, so my next guess is that they are also providing a piggy back unit that would allow you to connect. i just thought maybe something was out already. i'm in no hurry, just something that popped in my head and i was curious to see if that actually existed. i bet it would really help though. some people are just like me. they have a flip out and why put another din with only one function. why not have it incorporated into the flip out. and as far as controling it.the tune would have an infrared sensor, which could be mounted in the air vents for example and you can control it like that.

just a thought.

you need a stand alone tuner and a antenna, my fav way to install sat radio. But i am unsure what works with eclipse head units, lemme find out today while im at work.
