4th gen mounting depth

I do not have a Bose system but I was wondering what the mounting depth for my speakers is? I am thinking of getting a component system with a mounting depth of 2 7/8'' and I was wondering if this is too deep?

Thanks,
Ravi

I was wondering why a person with this same question never got an answer! Has anyone ever used speakers with a mounting depth of greater than 2 and 3/4" or has heard of anyone who did? I don't really want to make brackets for it but if I have to I will. I just wanted to know without taking off my doors to check, then putting them back on, then ordering the speakers and taking the doors off again to install.

I recently replaced the front speakers in my '95 Maxima and I don't think 2 7/8" will be a problem. Have you checked Crutchfield.com to check the max mounting depth?

Crutchfield even dropped their handy guide out of their latest catalog.

I'm not sure what the mounting depth of my focals was, but they fit just fine by dremeling the plastic support beams off the side of the stock bose speaker holder. I'd imagine if it was deeper than 2 3/4", then you can cut out a hole through the stock enclosure so the base of the driver would fit through it.

Thank you! This all helped a lot. The mods think I am retarded for not reading the faq, but I read it and went to most of the sites in the IMPORTANT post too.
