Separates in the rear doors?
Hey I was just wondering if it is possible to mount separates in the rear doors. I was planning to create a hanging 'glassed sub enclosure for a pair of 8's or 10's suspended from the rear deck (depending on depth of course). I often have people in the back of the car and am always carrying items that need the pass-through and I don't want to loose a lot of storage space. @ the moment I have a pair of 6.5" mid-bass drivers in the stock locations but the passengers often complain of poor sound. The 6.5's are band passed from 50-120 HZ and have no highs they are just there to improve the bass response in the car. So does any one know if it is possible for a set of separates or co-axes will clear the window?

I am not sure what year Max you have, but on my 2003 your 6.5 speakers will have no problem clearing the windows. If you look at the window it does not go down all the way, of course I am speaking about the 5th Gen.

Yeah, anything will clear the rear door of a 5th gen anyways. The window doesn't go down that low. Try co-axle first. I really think the separates will put out way too much highs for the rear passengers. Your front components should be ample for the whole car.

Where, actually, are you going to mount the speakers in the rear doors of your 4th gener.? When I had my '95 a few months ago, my rear speaker set-up included seperates in the rear deck. I had the mid-ranges in the deck, and the tweeters mounted on the pillars. I had components running in the front as well. Imaging was real good with components in front and rear. The rear "fill" sound sounded much more cleaner than the previous 6 1/2 's I had in the rear deck.
