2000 maxima wire boot problem

Hey guys I am new here, but I thought some of you Maxima experts might be able to help me out. I got a 2000 GXE Max. and I am redoing the stereo for a 8th time since I have no other jobs to do right now. I have always just tapped into the stock wire going to the door speakers. But now I will have two speakers in remade door panels. The problem I have is 2 fold. First I can't get the wire boot off from the body side of the wires. THe bolt that holds it in never seemed to fully want to come out. Is there a nut or something on the other side? I pulled back the rubber thinking maybe I take the bolt off after removing the whole thing and there are 2 plastic parts stuck together. I can get them somewhat apart but not all the way apart. Second I have just found that I have lost the power lock and window function on this side. I am assuming that when cutting out the old wire I either A cut a power wire somewhere (I doubt it though) or B ended up pulling a plug out somewhere inside the car and didn't know it. Anyway if anyone has any suggestions please help, I am about ready to just rip the whole damn thing out and deal with everything later.

This is the picture I took of my install along with the following words of frustration: "This is a picture of the passenger side door. The door is on the right and the car is on the left. The red arrows point to the stock wiring harness that comes from the car and goes into the door. Unfortunately, the connector (upper red arrow) is a multi-pin connector and cannot be tapped into at all for the purposes of running your own speaker wires into the door. I drilled holes into the car (deep behind the kick panels) and into the door and ran my speaker wire through them (yellow arrow). Why did Nissan have to make such a difficult job out of what should have been so easy?"

I'm suspecting you cut something, thus the reason the window/lock controls don't work, or you didn't put the door-side PIN connector back together correctly...?

If you really appreciate high quality car audio and in your case, want an easy install, buy the kick panels from Q-forms. They look great, provide the best imaging and won't require you to run wires to your door. I know crutchfield has them on sale for $149/pr.

Thanks guys. Actually I did finally figure out that it was a pin connector after 3 hours of fighting and finally deciding that the bolt must have been the only thing left. I then went out and immediately bought myself some of those ratcheting wrenches and it took 5 minutes to put it back on. I have kickpanels I custom made now but I don't like loosing my foot rest and I really don't like the fact that people have the tendecny of kicking the crap out of my speakers. I noticed that there are some extra molex pin holes. I think I may try to get some of those. The ones I have now are of course SAE so I have to get special ones for this job.

I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to here. If you don't mind taking some pics after you finish with this, that would be great. Just for my own curiosity.

Thanks, Tony

Yeah but it may be a week or so. I have to finish the door panels first. I should have just made new ones but I don't have the money so I am just refabing some of the inside I will get pics of that too.
