Infinity Kappa vs. Polk Audio Components?

Just got my new whip! The stereo SUCKS!!!!! I was looking at putting Infinity Kappa tweeters and for the mid-base use Polk Audio 6 1/2" speakers. Would it be better to go for a complete Infinity component system or Polk componet system? Or just mix and match?

unless you are also planning on buying seperate crossovers, I'd go for a complete component system.

I agree, the complete systems are matched for each other. They are not meant to be used with other speakers. Like posted above...Unless your doing away with the systems crossovers and using your own, then stay with a set.

I can't vouch for infinity, since I haven't used their components,

but I have Polk DX components now, and I like their sound and quality, but most importantly, they fit perfectly in the door opening.

So how do they sound, like the Mid-Bass, at loud volumes?

Why would you not reccommend either set?
I have had the polks and infinity's. I have 4 sets of the Infinity kappa perfects all around in my car and it sould great. They are crisper than the polks and I have just always liked infinity.

Because Don is an audiophile and both of those sets are not for discriminating tastes such as his.

Diamond Audio components and the like are more to his liking.

i have heard the diamond audios and they are extremely clean. they sound much cleaner and precise than my lousy alpine type r's. i would love to get them but they are out of my budget right now. if you decide to get them you will need an external amp and a fat checkbook.

Correct !

I wasnt saying that the Polks or Infintys are necessarily "bad", just not My taste.

I've had Infinity's in the past, and their mid bass is really nice. My friend has the Polks and they are ok. But honestly, neither can compare to the higher end brands previously mentioned.

I have Infinity Perfect 6.1's in my 240sx and I have Diamond Audio M5's in my maxima. Both are being run off 80 watts to each speaker.

The Diamond Audio sound a lot crisper, but do not have as much low end bass as the Infinity's. The tweets on the DA's are amazing!! sound almost concert like.

Boston Acoustic Pro 6.5s are what i like and will run in my SUV with a JL 300/2 running them, 150x2
That is my preference.

The speakers you choose should be to your liking, but remember the better you get the more you shell out....

Diamond Audio subs are available in Cm3,TM3,M6 and TDX. HEX is for the components and M5s have been discontinued for about 2 years now.

Excellent speakers. More info HERE
