what cd players will work

I tried searching but the word cd is too short! Anyway, my dad has a beautiful black 97 Maxima and I want to get him a cd player for his birthday. I've looked on ebay and some say 95-99, others 97-99 so I'm not sure which one I should get. Also if I get the bose, would it work cause he doesn't have the factory amp. Thanks for the help, and if I missed a faq I appologize.

Why does it have to be a stock cd player. Get him somthing nice. Its very easy to install.

Definately do aftermarket if you are getting him something new. All you will need is a Dash kit, wire harness, and antenna adapter.

Alpine, go with Alpine, experience the difference. When you go to purchase, listen to the difference. Alpine costs more but if you really know sound, you will love Alpine.

Alpine is definately good, I myself was going to go with an alpine HU until I listened to Eclipse.

Depending on your budget and wants you should definately take a look at both before you make your choice.

the budget isn't very high, maybe $100. That's why I was thinking ebay. Or is that enough for aftermarket? If it would be that much better the budget could be a little flexible.

In aftermerket anything reputable would cost a bit more than that. Yes it is a world of a difference from stock to aftermarket.

Ok heres my question sorry to *****. THe guy at circuit city told me that i would have to replace allll the speakers if i wanted a new headunit. Im thinking BS. He started going into all this **** about ohms and how any other headunit would burn up if i tried to use them with the bose speakers, is this true?

Yes, that is true. Sucks don't it. Well, you can pick up an adapter so that you can run a new hu with the bose system, but from what I understand is that the sound quality isn't as good.

NOT true at all. No need for an adaptor either. Just splice RCA leads to existing speaker wires and connect to the radio. With Bose your only sending a signal not power.

Ok, Don I'm sorry your going to have to explain this to me a little better, because I've been receiveing all kind of mixed info. Heck, the guy at the Car audio store I went to today told me it would run $150 in adapters to get the Eclipse deck to work in my Max.

When you say that you splice RCA leads in, do you mean to the speaker wires on the Bose system and then hook the RCA's up to the front and rear preouts on the aftermarket HU. Sorry again Don
