6.5" (not 6.75") in 4th Gen doors- Adapter needed?

I have some 6.5" components that I am looking to put in the front doors. I fit-tested them and they seem a bit small. Any suggestions on getting them to mount in there a bit better/tighter?

Cut a ring out of 1\4" luan (plywood) with a jigsaw screw the ring to the mount and the speaker to the ring
Cost? $3 for the 2'x4' sheet

some 6.5s come with the adapter rings with them, some have mounting holes for both 6.5 and 6.75, some you ned to buy or make adapter rings. My Boston ProSeries came with the rings seperatly.
