The system isn't 100% installed just yet and I don't have anything wired up, so I really can't answer that question. I am hoping that it will sound good in both scenarios, seats up or down.

Thanks for the replies.

Honestly, its been over 4 years since I've built a box and it didn't even cross my mind. Guess who's on their way to Lowe's. Guess I at least have all my templates so no measuring. Oh yeah, where were you guys 40+ hours ago?
Thanks for the input. I'll get it all updated.

you shoulda posted asking what material to use 40 hours ago

but on a serious note, i think you'll be much happier for MDF. it should last longer than those plywood you're using. plus it looks better too! good luck man

Anyway you can share the dimensions and the angles that you had to cut? It looks freaking amazing....except the lack of MDF.

Thanks for the compliment. And I have all the pieces replaced with MDF now. The box actually feels more sturdy. If you guys want, I can get the scan my drawings with measurements of the enclosure. This box is designed to reside under the rear deck without losing hardly any trunk space at all. Plus still having full access to the spare tire compartment. Keep in mind, my design if for 8" subs, but I'm guessing 2-10's or 12's would work as well.

I would have the subs facing back, towards the front of the trunk (back of the car). Better bass that way, and yes, it has been proven.

Anything that you want to post would help out the rest of us!! I would gladly take some measurements and angles. That way I don't have to strip out my whole system to figure out the angles. Again it looks great and definitely take some pics of the box made out of MDF. What is your internal volume at anyway?

My design with this box was not to win any SPL contests. If thats what I was going for, I'd have larger subs than 8's don't you think? If I want to have an increase in the amount of bass that is coming from the enclosure I'll just lay down the rear seats. No car seats to worry about here, so its not a big deal. I'll get those demensions out soon for those who are interested; including the interior volume.

2 pics of reconstructed box on web page

I have reconstructed the box out of 3/4" MDF and have two new pics on my web page. Before you guys flame me about the sh!tty pics, I used a poloroid camera so I could get them posted ASAP. My wife is hooking me up with a digital camera for my b-day at the end of the month, so I'm still behind the times there. Also, I have all the measurements laid out and I just have to draft them, scan them and then get them posted. There are a total of 12 pieces for this box, so bare with me while I get them drawn out. I'm trying to make them as detailed yet simple to understand at the same time. I'll include the layout for the construction as well.

Dustyroads - yeah you should have no trouble with 2 - 10's, you'll just have to alter the face plate piece which should be pretty simple.

My goal is to use that same type of box with the sub facing the rear of the car. The spot where you have the subs I have thought about using for an amp rack. Please share the dimensions. I would like to talk to you in more detail about the box. If you can, add me to your AIM list. y2k2madmax is my screen name.

That's what I was thinking! However I am along the same lines as maximamaybe. I would like to have the 10's play into the trunk and use the plate as an EQ rack for my setup. I definitely like all of your work!! Thanks again.

Very nice setup.
I was initially tempted to try something like this, but it seems the mounting depth on the eclipse 12" wouldnt allow it. I think I'd need to have at least 7" depth to try this

Steve - you wanna pay my way out to PHX? haha

Red - with this setup, you're looking at roughly 8" of mounting depth, so you should be fine.
