Right now I have an add-on cd changer which is a FM Modulator which means I have to open the radio everytime I want to listen to a CD. If I install a new tape deck with a cd receiver do I still have to use the radio to listen to the CD?

Make sure you get a CD deck that can control your changer. (ie. it should be the same brand and use the same protocal language). Then when playing CD's from the changer the interface will be a straight analogue signal from the changer to the headunit in the dash. If you go with a different brand deck from your changer you will be left with no alternative than to still us the RF FM interface.

Well it might have been supplied by the dealer but it's not actually a factory changer. If that was the case they would have set you up with a Sony Unilink type changer or an OEM Clarion unit (if one exists) and used an interface to get it to work with the factory deck so you didn't have to use the FM modulator setup. Audiovox does make headunits though, but I doubt that's one that you will want. It would certainly be a downgrade from the factory deck.

I suggest your only option may be to look into an entirely new AM/FM/Tape/CD/changer combination (any brand) or get an indash AM/FM/CD changer that are made by Nakamichi or Eclipse.

Not a problem. I'm new here but I've been around the Usenet sites for a while.

Hope I can lend an unbiased opinion here when I can.....
