aftermarket alarm question

I've been considering on gettin an aftermarket alarm but I was worried that with all the sensitivity it has that someone will set it off and I will be no where around and then it will just siren untill the battery dies. Has this happened to anyone?

It is a nation-wide law that a siren is not allowed to remain on for more than 10 minutes. However, almos all alarms are set to go off for 30 seconds, or 1 minute. As of right now, the only alarm that I know of that can be set longer than 1 minute is from DEI. They can be set up to the full 10 minutes. You have to request this change be programmed in by the installer. It comes factory set at 30 seconds. I hope this helps.
