how much does Bose differ between different make/models of cars
how much does Bose differ between different make/models of cars
This is a more general question...
I'm just wondering because I have a friend who has the bose in his '02 RSX-S and all he did was replace his headunit and the quality of his speakers became so much better. He's had it for about 6 months now and plays his music really loud. He also added an amp with a sub to make it better. Would his bose be alot more different from ours? I'm looking to just replace my dead headunit with an aftermarket one... probably the same one he has in hopes that it doesn't destroy my components.
from what he told me, his speakers are controlled by 1 bose amp.

Bose doesn't exactly make the equipment for OEM applications - they just tune it.
I'm not sure on most cars, but i know the 02/03 Altima Bose system is made by Panasonic. 5th gen Maxima's are made by Clarion and some of the older Honda's were made by Alpine.

The headunits on a Bose system may differ, but on Nissans all Bose systems are a small amplifier on the back of each speakers. You can tell because instead of just a magent on the back you'll see a black housing (ususally black) on the back of each speaker. I'm pretty sure that all the headunit does is tell each of those little amps to turn on (via remote turn-on) when it senses 12V.
