Which wire is + and which is - ?

Sorry if this has been beaten to death but I have searched for a while and can't seem to find it..

Is there a wiring color code chart or something somewhere, to tell me what color is + and which is - ? This is for the doors and the back. Not for the headunit.. unless they are the same color all the way from the HU to the door but I doubt that..

Anyway thanks..

most of the time, if for example, green is positive, then green w/ black stripe is negative.
or how about jus get a test light. it'll tell you right away what polarity. can't go wrong with that.

How will a test light show polarity? Voltage from the speaker leads is AC. You can use a phase pulse to detect phase but need a fairly expensive ~ $50 detector. Much easier to use a AA battery. plug it up to the leads behind the headunit and the speaker should pop forward when you have the battery positive on the positive speaker wire. Other way to test without speakers connected is with a multimeter.

my test light shows green when ground and red when power. it uses a power connection that you usually attach to the battery.

haven' really thought of other ways to do it since this way easily does it colors.

Battery is DC. Just as easy to test a battery with a multimeter set to volts DC. Speaker output is AC power. Test light won't work and test light should never be used in any device built in the past 20-30 years. There are far more things that may be broken with a test light than there are those which may be diagnosed.

maybe a simple test light. that i agree with because it will complete a circuit and if you use a ghetto one on your airbag, then kablooey. and that yes, i agree. but it works just like a multimeter.

he asked. i suggested something. you suggested another. i'm really not looking anymore than the fact he's looking for a piece of equipment, not hte best one.

not trying to start an arguement on which is better. i just suggested something.

If the light will operate on AC voltage it won't matter which way you hook it up. Therefore you can not tell with a test light which lead is positive and which lead is negative. I'm not argueing, simply stateing what I beleive to be true. It's a normal light buld that hsa been around for several decades. Nothing scientific and nothing that can test anything but the presence of a complete circuit. Was there something that I misssed in 2nd grade science class?

Your light has one red and one green LED in addition to the incandecent buld. The two LED's are wired parallel to the test leads but wired opposite of each other. LED passes current only one direction. Also won't light with AC power. Since the pass current in only one direction and one will light when wired in phase, the other when out of phase. But this is for testing DC power, not AC as in the speaker outputs.

All i needed to know is what the color is for + and - inside the door, the wire that connects right to the speaker.. ( they are like pink and brown in the back i think, they are odd colors)

There is no way to tell for sure without testing. They may have run out of a particular color of wire on the day they built your connector. Or the person or machine in the parts sorter may have made an error.

I advise you to take jmax's advice and use the battery pop test as he said. I just described in detail how to do this on a previous thread in the Audio forum.
