I have a JL 1000/1 amp., and today I was playing the new G-Unit cd and it was a track that really bumped. At sort of high volume it was cutting out, so I went to the trunk and the amp. had a blue light indicating the LowV sign. Then I went under my hood and checked the voltage gauge and it was reading 11.0 -11.8 volts when the car was running and 12.5 when the car and stereo was off . What went wrong with my amp.? Can anyone help me?

 

it should get 14.4 from the alternator. With that kind of amp I reccomend getting a second battery.

 

Do you think just one Optima Yellow top would work? And I was wrong with the voltage it was 11.3 -11.8 when it was running and in the 12 when it wa not.

 

yellow top might help, but that is one beefy amp. It might need an extra battery, becuase caps dont help too much.

measure the output with the engine off and on. leave your stereo off. should be 12 ish when off and around 14.4 when car's on.

 

I got a yellow top and a cap.. my 2 1200 watt jbl amps and 300.4 JL 4 channel amp werk fine. GO with YELLOW! trust me! it is made for those kind of amps

 

Which yellow top do you have and it is a perfect fit?

 

You need to place a piece of wood under the battery... but other than that it fits well
