I haven't had any problems with the brand I use. I think they produce loud, clean, and accurate sound. There are a lot of other things that go into the mix like quality of source unit, amps, and wires. For the most part, you can't go wrong with this brand. You might feel they might be a bit pricey. Someone on here once described Focals as the Gucci of stereo equipment.

I personally have never heard Infinity products, but I know they are the desired brand my A LOT of .org members. Ideally if you are able to go into a stereo shop, and hear em first, then decide.

I installed the same speakers in my 2K2 non bose max. I would not recommend powering them off the headunit. You will want an amp to get the most out of these speakers. I love the overall sound quality of the Kappa components. I installed them before putting my 10"sub in the trunk and they were able to hit really hard and low. Some of my friends thought I had a sub when I didn't. However, the doors would start to rattle a little if I went to loud with the bass way up. After I installed my infinity 10' sub in the trunk I was able to lower the bass on these speakers and have yet to be diasppointed in their sound quality. You can't beat these speakers for $145, which is what i also paid.

im glad they install easily into the max. i already have 2 10" subs so there will be almost no bass coming from the components. do you still think i can get away with running them off the h/u until i buy another amp? my friend has older kappas run by his pioneer h/u and they sound great and he has it with an 1 12" alpine type r. i feel they will be fine without the h/u for now but you know better than me.

I have to be totally honest, i have installed a bunch of those components in various vehicles. the sound is decent, and they dont handle power very well. they distort when u put bass frequencies around 60 to 70Hz to them at like 60 watts per channel. A lot of people don't know what clean sound is supposed to sound like. At the very least, look into kicker components. The door will need a mounting bracket to get 6.5" mids to fit

The only way to know for sure is to try them out. I had my rear kappa coax's run off my stock head for a few days before I installed my amp. They didn't sound to good off the non-bose max head unit. They may sound better off an aftermarket head unit that has more power than stock.

Slick, I saw your post @ forums.caraudio.com, you Maxima P.I.M.P.

I haven't read a negative post about the CDTs yet... and since they are $200 and come with a 4year warranty... how can you miss? I think I might also go with those, but I'd also need an amp asap. 2 reviewers on that forum loved the CDT coaxials in the rear! They're like $45...

haha. i just got back on that site i wasnt on for years. most of the people are idiots now on the site. im gonna stick with the infinity components and hook up my 250 wat 2 channel mtx amp to them and get a jbl 600.1 for my 2 10's. for the rears, they will stay stock for now because i dont sit in the back and circuit city charges by the pair so it doesnt matter if i buy them now or later.

The Infinity's are too bright and raspy. MB quart is the way to go. Smoother sounding. I've used them religously for 12 yrs. I come from the old school so I'm biased. My suggestions MB Quart, KEF (if you can find them) or ADS. Canton is pretty nice too. Spend the extra cash. Your main focus is the front stage of your car. The rear speakers act as fill. Quality speakers wouldn't hurt the back but wait till a later date to address that when you have extra cash.

Make sure you use nice clean amps (ADS) and a qualtiy (4volt minimum voltage output) radio.
I personally use the Pioneer 9400 and PPI Art series amps from 1993. The only other stuff I would use today is ADS or the old Soundstream or Phoenix Gold amps.

Theres a lot of junk out there. I sell Rockford Fosgate amps but I prefer the old PPI or ADS stuff if that mean anything.

which of these do you recommend. they will be powered by a pioneer 8500 mp h/u, then possibly by a 200 wat amp.

I'd go with the MB's if I had to choose between the two. This is MB's entry level speakers but that's like buying Ferrari's entry level sports car. You'll be very happy with the MB's. Their tweeter is the key to their great sound. You could actually keep your stock woofer and buy a set of QM19 tweets mounted in the A pillar (if your car came that way). It will sound great with the 8500. You can probably get the tweets for $70-100.

Just my opinion.

Screw it... I couldn't wait any longer, Slick! I just ordered the HD-62CF components and the CL-6X coaxials for the rear. Called up & spoke to Michael. Free shipping 'n all.

Now the big question is... ARE YOU GAME?
