My friend is about to get ripped...

He is about to buy a Nissan Maxima 2001 Bose HU and last time I read here, the fit is not plug and play. The seller is telling him it will fit...Am I wrong? Can someone confirm this. He is being a d*ck right now and thinks I dont know what I am talking about. I wanted to make sure I was right.
Heres the link

I am assuming you are talking about putting it into a 4th gen (since it's posted here)

I am pretty sure all rear connections will line up just fine.....but....it isn't the same size or shape, so maye it will fit with a little brute force?

If they were all the same size, might as well go 350z!

The 95-99 max's have a double din opening (the height of 2 standard iso din units (mater of fact if you have the factory tape and cd you have 2 separate units wired together)) as far as I know the 2k and up max’s do not have a standard din opening. Also it is my understanding that the bose units have out board amp units often and use a hybrid balanced line out rather than a speaker level out. I would be surprised if this unit bolts in and even more surprised if it plugs in to the harness on the car side and exceptionally surprised you get any useable sound. However, I have recently installed a 6 disc in dash changer from a 2001 altima that DID plug straight in and fit perfectly. Though I had the am/fm/tape/cd unit before the cd had just died though the optic was toast.

If it is going into a 4th gen it won't fit. And since it is BOSE it is not amplified so it will be real quiet.

Mike, did you just plug the Altima 6 disc player into the back of the Bose? Or did you also change the HU also? I thought the in-dash unit's weren't Bose compatible?????

And so he feels like a moron for not listening to me or your posts. The HU arrived today and taking it out of the box you could tell the fitment just wasnt right. The HU face has a slight curvature to it. I watched him for and hour and half to try and get this thing to fit right. He got ****ed as I watched and laughed. BTW, he was (trying) to uprade his 97 Bose HU...Anyway, now he doesnt know what to do with this HU and the seller wont take it back.

Good question 95blue...Is there a CD changer that is compatable with the Bose HU (95-99)? I see ones on ebay that are single DIM, but I was wondering if there was like a trunk mount changer for the Bose double-DIM.

See CourtesyParts.com under 'Specials' for factory 6-disc trunk mounted changer, ~ $143. Also need the mount kit for another ~ $40. Looked like a good way to go to me, have mine on order now.
Careful though, they advise to have a 'professional install' so I imagine that means running the 15' cable/drilling holes/etc.

I meant any trunk mounted CD changer. Can I just go to Best Buy and buy a Sony trunk Cd changer and control it from the Bose HU? I want to keep my Bose HU but would like a compatable changer.

Sorry if I was not too clear, I have the NON-Bose hu and changer. the alti's changer came with an adapter but since I had the single cd from the factory it pluged right in to the car and the am/fm/cass unit.

thats why i asked, because of course any trunk mounted CD changer could fit a max. To hook the stock stereo up to the bose, you need a changer control (to change from CD to CD or to shuffle all discs) they sell little independant control pannels just for your changer so you can stay stock with the head unit. its a lot more difficult that way
