fuse holder or circuit breaker?

I sued to use a fuse holder but I recently switched to a circuit breaker. I find that when working on your system it's easier to just hiot the switch than take the fuse out.

depends. if ur using a circuit breaker with too high of a rating then u run the risk of frying ur amp in the event that the circuit needs to be broken by either burning out the fuse or setting off the circuit some how. the circuit will not break if the amperage of the circuit breaker is too high.

Personaly, I have two ANL 100amp fuses, two waffer 60amp & two waffer 40amp fused. Its just safer IMO.

This is an interesting discussion. How often do you blow a fuse?

I don't think I have blown a fuse in the stereo for about 12-15 years. Can't remember if I have ever, in the main section of the car stereo.

For the main power fuse or any fusing application for amps I would use a fuse. Reason is that the fuse is more relieable. Or more accurate. A circuit breaker also has greater resistance than a fuse - therefore greater voltage drop.

If you want to go high end I would use an ICB, Intelligent Circuit Breaker. They have more benefits than a standard breaker and lower resistance than a fuse.

You could always put the breaker and fuse in series too...

Why use fues or breakers in series? They are both resisters. The more resistance you have in line between the battery and amp the less voltage you will have at the amp.
