HU Upgrade - what to do??

Hey Guys,

I currently have an Eclipse3417 and was thinkikng of upgrading to the 5343 or the 8443 (Think those are the numbers). Not sure if it is really worth it. I'm not concerned with the mp3 playback as the 2 new ones dont have it. More concerned with sound quality and pushing my 2 amps. Any suggestions from experience??

Well I just looked at the Eclipse website. I didn't see your 3417, but I assume it's very similar to the 3413. I don't think there's much difference in SQ between yours and the 5343 (once again, I couldn't find that one, but I assume it's similar to the 5433)...just higher voltage. However, I see that the 8443 has a "24-bit advanced multi-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter". Now I'm not sure what the other two models you mention, but depending on your ears, I would think there should be a substantial SQ difference between this model and everything below it. Plus, it has the 8V pre-outs...if your amps can handle it.

And speaking of which, what kind of amps/speakers are you using? No sense on buying an expensive HU if you have cheap speakers and amps.
