members with 7" indash LCD...

people can see the screen from outside. Do you guys just leave it the way it is when you guys park your car? or do you have something to cover it with? something like a black piece of thing cardboard or something..
I think that thieves who know will immediately identify the screen and break in, stealing all of our ****!(dvd player, game console, subs, amp, etc...)

any1 thought of any good ideas?

so i guess all of us just leave it the way it is.. i guess if you have black interior, black on black screen isn't too noticeable.

yeah, that's why i wanted tints but lucky you, you live in NY. When i lived in NY few years ago, i had 20% tints on my eclipse..
and when i moved to PA to goto school, the cop pulled me over for it and i had to remove it.

so besides having tints, any other ideas?

Where were you in PA? I have 20% all around and and havent been stopped. I have blk on blk so hopefully the screen isnt noticble when I get mine. My friend just got his headunit, subs and amp stolen last week when he had his next to mine outside my house. Im a little worried about putting stuff in my car since they seem like they really knew what they were doing with my friends car.

i goto penn state berks which is near Reading, PA. every semester, atleast 2 cars get broken into and their HU gets stolen.

and while i was driving to campus(i live off campus), a cop pulled me over and told me i have to get rid of my tints..

if you are in Philly, don't worry.. cops have plenty of stuff to do there.. cops in the suburbs have nothing better to do than to pick on young drivers with their compact cars... i had my eclipse back then...

Maybe you can custom fit the old hu's front plate to attach somehow? I remember seeing someone do it, but they were just covering another hu, not a screen. I believe he had pics in the thread called show us whats in your trunk. Just make sure to use some fabric in the back of the faceplate so you dont scratch the screen...

i just don't want some1 to break in after they see a black screen.. if i can get tints, i would but i cant

knowing my luck, someone might break in on my campus.. i guess i'll just have to hope for the best.

P.S. i'll cut out a black piece of paper and put some sort of penn state sticker on it.

You cant really tell that easily from the outside, infact ive had people in the car when the screen is off not know that it is a screen.

I only live about 40 minutes from reading at the most. I also live in the suburbs and all my friends have at least 20% tint. A few have 5% and nobody bothers us. One of us were pulled over once and the cop just warned us that it looks close to being illegal, which it was.

If I were you go with the darkest legal tint you can, its gotta help somehow and cops can't make you remove it.

If you dont go with tints make sure you turn the screen off as you approach your neighborhood.

As a few people have already said, be careful with tints in PA. A friend of mine with an RSX got pulled over and got a fix-it ticket for his 35% tint. That's about the only thing keeping me from getting tint. Of course, like minsbang said, it's the suburbs, but I've heard of a lot of problems across western PA, city, suburbs, and out in the middle of nowhere.

so it's either you get tints, cover it with black paper or thin cardboard, or make a fake hu with fabric on the other side(avoiding the scratch)

it's *tint* not tints. how can 15 people say it wrong.. covering it would look obvious. sometimes it's better to show you have a 100$ screen (who would know how much it really cost..) then to hide it and make the thieves think you have a 600$ double DIN stereo.

actually one of the god things is that people think its factory. So most people think its a navigation system in the car even when they are looking directly at it! Ask the cop that pulled me over and was asking me about that option on the SE-L max. You should be ok when the car is parked for that reason alone.

it's noticeable when it's on and you're driving by and people see the tv in your car. That's what trigger's the thieves

i have mine out in the open..since i have a wood dash kit..i was thinking of making some wood cover for it, but if you were to look inside, the TV looks like it came stock, almost like navigation or something. Of course tints do help
