x-band?

my passport radar detector has the option of completely swithching off the x-band alert because they say it's not used much anymore. i've had it for about 8 months now and i have never really seen a cop when my x-band goes off... which by the way is all the time... my question to you guys with radar detectors is if i should do this or not? have you guys ever seen a cop using x-band? BTW i live in arizona.
thanks

I thought x-band was mostly for their walky talky signal's. I usually get KA and K when they are shooting radar.

I've seen some X in NJ so I keep it on. I only react when it goes to 2 or 3 though.

X Band RADAR is slowly being phased out. But that doesn't mean some agencies still don't use it.

thanks... i guess i wont turn it off then, tho i never react to it anyway since its going off all the time. cops in AZ almost always use Ka and K band radar, but i am starting to see a few lazer signals now and then... i saw one "photolazer" unit just the other day... (i assume you would call it that if it was one of those photoradar units using lazer...) anyhows, sucks for the people who have the older units that dont pick up laser, i'm glad mine does

I have picked up at least 3 cops in the last year shooting x-band. My V1 also has the option to turn it off and I almost did until it saved me on a back country road. I would leave it on if I were you.

I'm usually in NY or near Boston, so I mostly drive in big city areas. Keeping the X on around here is counter-productive. It goes off so freaken often that I ignore my detector altogether. The only times I turn X on is when I'm in Jersey or in a less populated area, like when I go skiing.

The guys are right. K, Ka, and Laser are being used more often. A NYS Trooper had K band shooting down the road. Also, I got hit with laser on the Southern State and LIE. No tickets though I did get hit with X band so keep it on. Just switch your sensitivity to CITY when you are not on the highway. It may go off, but hey, better safe than sorry.
