Screws should work well. Maybe you need a longer or larger diameter screw, and / or more of them. L - brackets also work well. Just be careful not to drill into the gas tank.

do you know how to securely place a box in the back back of the trunk? in my 2k2 it has a little ledge in the back and my box is narrow enough it fits... but its so lopsided. i was thinking phone books to make it level, then use lbrackets. but thats kinda ghetto

Are you talking about the section near the pass-through?

Slick, check out my webpage. I have a few pics and diagrams of how to construct a box in this area of the trunk without taking up the whole thing. I'm actually 1 day into a new box which is on page 10.

your box looks good. i have a prefab box i like and im gonna use. i just need a way to brace it in that area and make it level because for some reason when i put it back there the box aims downward.

Maybe just screw some "legs" to the bottom to level it up some?

lol. not a bad idea. should i make them or buy them? just screw 2 into the bottom of the box right? and then i could put velco on the bottom so it wouldnt move. although my box im guessing weighs 80 lbs.

bolts and L-brackets my man thats what i use. can't ever go wrong with some high-tech stuff like that. never hurts to get a bit creative though. this summer me and my friend who is learning how to fiberglass are going to design a custom enclosure for my trunk. we're going to actually build it with wood and fiberglass over the top to make it look nice and of course here's my favorite part.. load that sucker with 4 JL 12w0s. i would go 12w3v2, but the 12w0s sound godly enough and i don't want to have to get all new amps. thats 48" of pure air-moving power baby 8)

There's probably a few ways you could level it up. I'm thinking if you box weighs 80 lbs, no need for any velcro.

yea if your box is heavy enough, believe me it's not going anywhere. never hurts to be safe though. you can always make some bracers too to keep the sliding down, but that's more of a temporary solution.

Sheer weight, where did you come up with that malarky? An object in motion will remain in motion unless there is an opposing force. 80 lbs moving at 65 mph will continue to move at 80 mph unless there is a very good effort to secure the box.

my box doesn't move at all. i guess the friction between the box carpet and the trunk carpet is doing a good job in preventing my box from sliding around.

the carpet on my box feels kinda smooth for carpet so it slides easy. ill just use some l brackets with the legs

Ok, I didn't expect Newton to get involved in this, but ok...bottom line is that with the way MY enclosure is set up in my trunk, the box had to be wedged into the pass-through area with some force and with all the wiring involved with the box, its not going to move.

You guys care to "test" those theories? Strap down a carton of eggs on each side of the enclosure and do some hard acceleration, a bit of cornering and a few hard stops. If your eggs get scrambled you know the explanation.

One way is to put a rear strut bar and use brackets to hold the box to the srut bar. It's not a common way, but it works.

Newton thought the apple hurt bad enough. He doesn't want your sub to land on his head. And Einstein is getting beat up too bad about his relativity theory to be bothered about this.
