component speakers

I am looking at a pair of MB Quart QSD 216 6.5" component speakers. Right now I have Diamond Audio HEX 6.5 speakers, but there not doing it for me. I also have a JL 13w7 sub that has crazy bass and the Diamond Audio speakers just aren't cutting it. When I really crank the volume people in the back say they can never hear the words. Would anyone recommend getting the MB Quarts over my DA speakers? or recommending some better speakers?

MB Quarts are great speakers, but i think something more along the line of focal polykevlar and up would better suit your needs.

i'd say the 125 is plenty up front....but with diamonds...the rears rob some of the power...

have you tried a little fine tuning....for better imaging.....i mean lowering the gain on the sub amp? I know those w7's hit some real low bass response...

And people continue to question why I put components in the back. So they could atleast "hear the words".

Raymond,
I have owned the QSD 216s for over a year now. Let me just say that they are the only components I have ever owned that I cannot drowned out with subs. They are clear no matter the volume or the wattage. I sampled many different brands of components before paying a good sum for the Qs. The only other components that I thought sounded as good, differnent, was the Focal Utopia 165W. The other focals just can't keep up with the Qs, the polykevlars are not even close when you push them. Now the 165Ws were sweet. They were as clear but just had a different sound. You should try each out with your ears to see what you like best. It is personal thing...

Hmmmm. I doubt that your problem can be attributed to your DA speakers. You can of course do better for more money, but it would't solve your problem. And certainly the MBQ speakers you speak of won't let your passengers "hear the words". I suspect that your sub is just too powerful for the people in the back seat. Either turn it down so they can hear, get some rear fill, or tell them your stereo is not meant to be listened to in the back seat!!

It's clear you dont go for the full audio experience.
