Rotozip Question and MDF
Rotozip Question and MDF
I noticed that rotozip has like 5 different product types. I think home depot sells the most basic one. Is that gonna be strong enough to cut through 3/4 MDF or do I need the heavy duty revolution series?

It'll probably cut it but don't expect it to be fast. The roto-zip is a nifty tool that I don't use if I have any other tool that can do the same job. It is essentially a low power router that has bits designed for cutting many different types of materials. A router has much more power and a wider base for making clean cuts. For wood or similar materials I would spend the extra $20 - $200 and get a good router and several bits. Get a router that can accept 1/4" and 1/2" bits.
There are some things that the roto-zip can do more easilly than other tools but I don't find myself needing it often. It can cut thin metal, such as car door material or old nuts and bolts that can't be removed. If I were to get another one I would get the most powerful version they offer because it is more useful for cutting metal in tight spaces where other tools can't fit. Or if you can't afford or store a compressor and air tools.
