in reguards to radar detectors... you get what you pay for... please dont expect much protection from your detector when you pay less for em.. let see.. I would recommend ...a BEL unit for $119. But please dont go get one for under $60, TOTAL WASTE OF YOUR MONEY... IT will just make noise and bother you everytime you drive.

you will get what you pay for! The off brand ones are just a pile of crap and will false most of the time. Shop for a used Bel or Escort on Ebay or in the classified section here on the org.

Save your money and get a better detector.

This is one instance where you get what you pay for.

I was given a old Radio Shack talking radar detector that has provided me with just about 2.5 years of good service. I have only recieved 1 ticket in the time that I have had that detector, and that was because I went over the bridge doing 80 instead of using common sense and taking my foot off of the gas. In that situation no detector would have saved me from myself. A detector is a tool to be used along with other things, mainly common sense. I drive my local freeways at 80-90+ daily, paying attention and having a good eye are just as good as early warning. I wouldn't say spend -$60 on a detector, but as of right now I wouldn't spend $250+ for one either. To a certain extent you do get what you pay for. When detectors can tell me whats on the other side of bridges, over/under passes, blind corners, and behind buildings then I might spend that kind of dough. Until then I just need something to enhance what I already have.

this is very true... I've been driving for about 10 years, only 1 ticket and that was my 1st year of driving; Common sense has kept me out of trouble till now, I got a couple of warnings from speed traps, very good traps, ie.. cop at bus-stop; cop on crane (100ft in the air); mail man cop holding radar; homeless cop with radar hidden behind (will work for food sign);

I've had my radar detector setup for about 1 month now, my area is getting very very offensive when it comes to speed traps, and its like a game, so Im getting prepared with high end equipment. Nothing but laser, common K band Ka band are not so common; Not even a $400 detector is enough; COMMON SENSE is key. You cant rely on your detector. Just use your senses (hauling butt down main street... not a good idea. But cops here laugh at your radar detector when they tag you at 1,100 feet!!!! with their new laser equipment.. i work for the department and i've seen hundreds of radio shack , uniden, RMR brands get taken in from owners tossing it after court cause they got caught.

Just keep speeding off your list and use some keen vision and stay safe!!
