The face of the unit folds down to reveal the cd/dvd loading slot.

As for pricing, here's what I have...

AXV-2404 Basic Tv/DVD 5.8 $1599
AVN-2454 DVD/Navi 6.5 $2299
AXV-2494 DVD/20Gig HD 6.5 $2999

i think we have a new winner. i liked the kenwood coming out, but i love the eclipse. do you know if the dvd will play while the car is in drive? 5.1 built in... eclipse does it again, huh?

*edit* i got too excited. 1.8v line outs... thats horrible, especially for eclipse.

I'm sure there is a way to do it. I had a similar system in my 2K Max where I bypassed the e-brake and was able to watch video while the car is moving.

Ground the ebrake wire.

Yes the voltage outputs are low, but Eclipse made these intending them to be a somewhat simple upgrade. Also on the AVN-2454, it was especially made to look factory, and will be used in the '05 Lexus navi equipted vehicles.

my personal take, after comparing the units, i like the old eclipses better (my model, the 8022 and the 8032). maybe i missed on some of the advantages, i haven't fully read the specs yet, but a few things that stood out that i noticed.

- 1.8v outputs vs mine 8v ouputs
- 1 input and 1 output vs mine 2inputs and 2outputs. this stands out for me in the case of back passengers watching 2 different sources. i can have somoen watch a dvd on 1 headrest and someone can play the gamecube on the other screen. with 2 seperate outputs, you can specify more on your viewing pleasure. yeah this may mean less than nothing to you guys, but for some reason, i was a bothered by this. to put 2 screens, you'd have to put a splitter, which forces both headrests to watch the same source. secondly, what if i wanted a gamecube and an xbox, or maybe ANOTHER dvd player. i can do that...can the new ones...nope. one other external source, and that's it.
- push button vs. mine, joystick - i am jealous about the rotary volume (i have to push the volume up button, but i love my joystick. the touchscreen, the few times i've messed around with it, it wasn't letting me choose certain things during dvd mode, like chapter selection was pretty rough. where as with my joystick, i've grown used to it so i i can travel pretty quickly. plus, i hate having fingers on my screen, so even if i had touchscreen, i wouldn't like it.
- screen only looks straight ahead on the new ones...mine can turn sideways up to roughly 45 degree angle. i actually use that quite often. again, small issue but i noticed it.

now some advantages of the new units over mine can be many or little, i havne't noticed it yet, but some that i caught are: you can forward and pause mp3's whereas my unit you can't do anything but play it or skip to the next track. you can pause cd's, whereas my model can't pause cd (only pause dvd)..explain that to me. i don't know why they left that out. the new backgrounds on the eclipses are 3D-ish, which is cool.

and the one thing NEITHER model has and i don't understand...the infamous attenuation. i loved that thing on my ghettoa$$ pioneer. lower it 10 volume levels in the tap of a button.

i know i left 2 more issues out, when i remember then, i'll add to the list.

hehe....I sare some of the same feelings towards them as you Polo......which cause me not to jump on one....i guess the main purpose was to provide
an all-in-one with a factory look

So it looks like i'll be staying with my single din......but since tv's are a must.... if i cant find a way to relocate my HU to fit a screen in the double din opening.....some Iconz screens in my visors will have to be my next project....

my friend owns a shop and carries eclipse. I called him today and he has 2 coming in. I told him to put one on the side for me. If it looks good, i just may buy it. I just want to see what it'll look like once its installed.

yeah, i'm not too concerned because i was planning on getting an audio control eq with a line driver. by the way how much are you charging for the AXV-2404? or is this one of those deals where you have to charge the authorized price? do you sell kenwood, and if so have you got the DDX7015 yet? i've been waiting to check it out, but i haven't found anyone who has it.

Since you live so far away you would have to go to your local dealer. I am not able to ship out Eclipse products.

The new Kenwood HUs still arent released yet.

Eclipse is extremely protective of their pricing. They expect all dealers to sell at retail price to avoid any price wars between other dealers. Although they are "able" to discount the price they may not due to these guidlines. Simply put, dont take it personal if they dont give you a "super deal" theyre just doing their job.

Mac, its a friend of mines 5th gen.

that Eclipse looks pretty nice, but topped out at $3000+? ouch! and what are those round silver things in the lower corners? are those "*****"?

just playing...the Kenwood that just came out (click here) is decent also; i have a similar (older) unit minus the DVD. never had a problem with it...

The Rosen 6500 has been disontinued for quite some time. And Rosen themselves will tell you there is absolutely NO Comparison. That is actually quoted directly from my rep this afternoon.
