Should i get components?

I was thinking about just putting in pioneer 3 way 6.5 in the front, but then is it better to get compents and just swap out the stock tweeter? what if i just get 3way 6.5 and tap in some decent pioneer tweets to the lines?

What do you guys think is the best solution?

I think the best option for sound quality, would be to replace the fronts with components. Then you have a seperate mid range and tweeter, with a crossover, directing the appropriate frequencies to the appropriate speaker. Using 3 ways with extra tweeters tapped into the lines might work okay, but you can't just tap an extra speaker into the lines without resistors, you'll have to remember to wire them in parallel, unless you're using a crossover, in which case, the crossover fixes that problem. But, if you're going to have 3 way speakers, and then add a seperate tweeter and crossover anyhow, you might as well just get a component set in the first place. The additional speakers attached to the mid on a 3 way will just be wasted. Therefore, if you think you need an improvement, replace the stock mid and tweeter with the component mid and tweeter, then wire in the crossover. That will give you the best sound quality. I don't know how the stock tweeters are wired in your 99, I would doubt they have a crossover already, but I'm not sure, so the crossover in the component set will be nice. Actually, if there isn't a crossover already, you could always try hooking in a crossover in between the stock mid and tweeter. This would seperate the frequencies, and would make a difference, allbeit I don't know if it'd be as much of a difference as you're looking for, but if you had a crossover kicking around you could try it for fun.

My best advise.....listen to another set up, lot of times people buy stuff without listening to the product and end up not liking it, Most people would tell you get focals, MBquart....blah blah blah or pioneer but you should listen to them if you like the setup with out component get them like that!

do you!

Exactly.....audio should be a very personal choice.....what sounds good to some may not sound good to others.....so as far as brands go , decide on your budget- try to listen to some local peoples setups or visit your neighborhood audio shop for ideas..... Good luck

The people over at www.caraudioforum.com can give you plenty ideas
as far as brands/prices and soundquality for your $$$
