I have these speakers.........my whoel system consists of alpine type-R components and subs along with all alpine amps as well. Verryyy loud and clear speakers in my opinion.....and alpine is a great company. That is a fantastic price by the way too. I'd say go for it.

Has anybody rated CDT-61A and Alpine SPR-176A? How do they compare?

Can't really compare them, the CL-61's are normally $300 speakers, completely different league..

I have the type S 6.5" coaxials and I have them amped... getting 40 rms each just as specs say hehe... there is a BIG difference in clarity if you have them amped but they still don't sound good enough now that i have my subs in..

I'm really starting to think that they're meant to be used in a system that doesn't have a sub... mainly because they have very good lows on their own, not quite like a subwoofer, but not bad at all.... but once you get a sub you're gonna want to get compenents that are going to EXCELL at playing mids and highs like they were built to do, assuming you cross them over correctly of course

yea i think that setup is for systems with no subs also. my components are 320 watts rms in the front and 120 watts rms in the rear. and i have a 100x4 amp pushin them with a 800 watt amp pushin my 1000 rms subs. my setup sounds really clean and crisp. i just need to get a bigger amp to push my subs.
