What causes the engine sound/buzzing/humming sound to play through the speakers?

If you accelerate the noise gets louder, it just runs with the engine.

Know what I am talking about?

 

sound like alternator whine to me. its caused my power wires. it can be rcas on the same side as the power cables. there are couple of thing that can be the problem. i am not experience in this area because ive never had the problem. but seems like a few guys here have.

 

Im no stereo guru but from what I know about that whiney/rev sound is that you need a better ground wire from the stereo and also try not to cross the speaker wire with any power wires when you run them.

Wrong...keep the power wires away from RCA's. I've never heard of speaker wires picking up interference from power wire.
