motorized parts in custom setup...need advice

so as of now 2 of my amps are going to come down from the wall almost in drawbridge effect...now a few ideas have been put out to do this cheaply but the most predominant one is to use a 1000 lb electric winch.

does anyone have any better ideas as to how this can be done so the amps go up and down smoothly and while keeping cost down

Are you talking about the same thing you mount on the bumper of a Jeep? Where would you mount that?

hahahaha yes we are talking about the same thing you mount on the bumper but they make them in a much smaller scale, the one we are lookinginto is only 5inches long and is only meant for like 1000lb

ive mostly looked online for motors, a friend of mine does all that roboitics stuff so he knows some good places, the idea of buying ****ty drills and ripping their motors out came up 2

Type linear actuator into eBay. You might be suprised at what it turns up. I bet you can get one that will do what you need for pretty cheap. Select Products sells the rails and mounting stuff you need. Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

The winches I have seen are more expensive than the actuators. But a couple pulleys and an antenna motor might also work. Or a window motor out of a junk yard. You could also use a spring or gas strut to raise the levers. And the motor to pull them back down.

I would worry more about how you will run the power wires efficiently. That's what makes motorization of amp racks such a waste. Looks cool but the power wires are long enough that you get another volt drop of resistance in those long power wires.
