**pics** 5th Gen GXE trim in Titanium Edition 2003

I finally have pics of my GXE insert and paint job with the Eclipse cd-8053

Someone wanted to see the GXE insert painted Titanium.. so here it is.

Actually, I had the GXE trim peice painted, as well as the parts that used to be "titanium" on the A/C controls too.

The color is a little lighter than the stock Titanium, I think it helped bring out the aluminum accents in the Eclipse (did that sound interior designer gay or what?)

Is that a GXE pocket too or is that a aftermarket/ custom.

Damn, that looks good. I think I need to get the GXE trim piece for my Eclipse HU. Is the paint custom or is that an off the shelf color?

I would like to know this as well

That setup looks very nice. Just wanted to know, if you can comment on the 8053 and if you are happy with it or not.

ok, lots of questions...

here goes,

MacAlert is right, it is a GXE pocket, not a custom pocket. Dave B hooked me up with both, shipped UPS real quick and easy.

The paint color I got off the shelf (but not at Walmart). The installers at a local shop had a ton of colors of "car interior paint", and we tried a couple shades of "off the shelf" silver on a test peice before deciding which to go with. The first was much closer to stock Titanium, but we went with the lighter color instead...looks better with the light aluminum on the Eclipse.

about the Eclipse CD-8053, it's pretty darn good, but I was expecting more, so I was kind of disappointed. For most people, the one right below it...(CD-8443?) is just fine, and it's about $100 cheaper. I have Boston Z6's up front, Boston Pro 5.25's in the rear, and one Diamond CM3.

In my car every thing is pretty high-end, if you don't have all the high end speakers/amps I would say that you don't need the optional 16V pre-outs. (which is the only advantage I know of the CD-8053 having over the CD-8443)

someone correct me if I'm wrong about the Eclipse CD-8443/8053 comparo...

The CD8443 is discontinued. The new one is CD8454.

looks awesome! With that deck, you don't need to do the custom trim panel thing like I had to....

Wait, wait, wait.... I am going to ask a REALLY stupid question, but I plan on installing my deck soon, so i need a dash kit.... i have heard alot about the GXE dask kit, but does it come right out a gxe?? what year? then you have to buy a kit on top of the trim peice? someone please clarify this for me. also, any fitment issues? and you say i can get this right from daveb? how much shipped? thanks..

it is right out of a 2000 GXE; it had a "single DIN" head unit if I'm not mistaken.

you don't have to buy a trim peice on top of it, the GXE peice includes vents, darn...someone had a photo of it before installation, gives you an idea of what you are getting...

It's a much bigger peice than just the scoshe head unit adapter...

wish someone had that pic...i just can't put it in words.

thatd be stock...its like this weird gray-pearl-matte finish
its the same finish as your shifter trim if its gray and i believe theres a little bit of this finish on the bose head unit as well.

Most dealerships will have to order the part (won't be in stock)

with courtesy nissan, after you order it from them online, they have a "comments" section on the online order form, and you can ask them to get you the pocket also.

I've bought a lot from these guys. if they were ebayers, they'd have all positive feedback from me.

I'm not sure if they are the cheapest, but they're pretty good.

You can also try Southpoint Nissan, but their website isn't as user friendly. But they might have better prices...

anyone have Dave B's email?
