Alarms: Viper v Code Alarm

Alright Alright...I know this needs to go into the audio and electronics forum, but we all know how much traffic those forums get. Anyway, I could use y'alls help in my next mod: Remote Start Alarm! I debating on whether to get a Viper 791XVR or the Code Alarm equivalent. I really like how Code Alarm you didn't need to add all the extra modules and relays...everything is built into one. You don't even need a key for the transponder. I work at circuit city and with my employee discount it's about 50 dollars cheaper versus the Viper. I haven't heard anything about Code Alarms though, quality etc..
Sooo..
Anybody have any advice?

BTW Anybody know where I get red of used anti-freeze...converted over to Toyota Red this weekend..now I have 8 gallons of waste coolant.

Thanks in advance,
John

I don't understand how it will work without the transponder. Also, what extra modules and relays does the viper have but the code alarm doesn't. The only relay is the remote start relay on the viper.

I wouldn't even put code alarm in the same class as Viper. Viper all the way!!! I have the 791 and I love it. BTW I thought the circuit city only sold the 790

I used to install Code Alarm remote starters. The only repeated problem with them is people would press the buttons while the key was in the ignition making the system not work, valet mode or something. We did however, use keys and transponders...how else do you do it??

I have a Code Alarm system on my Accord and it gives me nothing but problems. Frequently doesn't work (who knows why) and when I open the doors with a key the alarm will go off. Other times it works and regardless the alarm will go off. It's a piece and if I could repeat it I would go with a Clifford or Viper.

I wouldnt even compare viper to a code alarm. Viper is top of the top. They've always been the brand to go with, I wouldn't go with anyone else but viper. That's just me..

Comparing DEI to Clarion Corp isnt even fair. DEIs alarms are of much better qualiy and dependabiliy. Theyve been in the alarm business alot longer and have been proven time and time again.

Now please inform us as to which "extra" relays are needed for the Viper as opposed to Code. The only relay needed to add on is for the trunk release. And an immobilizor bypass IS needed regardless of the brand...
