Please help a Newbie..Need Help Just Starting...
Ok I'm starting to pair up components for my upcoming "system". I'm a newbie to this..here is what I want as a set-up.
1. Replace my 6.5s in the front doors.
2. Replace the 6.5s in the rear deck with 6x9s.
3. 2 pairs of tweeters, two for front A-Pillars and two for rear deck.
4. New HU.
5. 10" sub (need help on what kind of box)
6. Amp to power the sub.
7. Dynamat speaker kits for all speakers.
***8. Down the road a 4-way amp for the speakers.
I want all of my speakers/amps to be Pioneer Premeire. Just preference...I just feel that Pioneer will work well.
I will obviously will have many questions as I delve futher into the process.
such as...
What is a decent price for good quality tweeters that will produce great highs and last for a while?
What type of sub-box will work very well? I saw this heavy sub-box not sure what it was made of but was hard as hell.
What are the pros/cons with regular boxes, ported?
Silly question (please bare with me) do you/ can put dynamt with the tweeter. Just curious.

I would steer clear of Dynamat. Not that it's bad but just way overpriced. Look up http://www.secondskinaudio.com/secondskin.html their Damplifier seems to be getting a lot of good reviews lately.
Run coaxials in the rear deck, their just fill anyway. Invest in a good set of components for the front and mount the tweeter in the A pillar.
You might want to do some reading in the above FAQ sticky, there are a ton of good links and info up there.

ok first off you dont need dynamat in your trunk with 1 10 in sub, the doors it might not be a bad idea for to stop vibrations.
for your interior i reccomend pioneer....they have good pricing and a great sound
for the sub it depends on how much bass you are looking for and your budget
kicker makes awsome SPL subs but if you want SQ then check out diamond or rockford phosgate. also JL subs have a nice combination of both.
for the amp its again a matter of budget and preference. you can get a no name brand (pyle, crunch etc) for a small price but they wont have the same stability or quality as the higher end brands (alpine, kicker, jl)
sub boxes vary between the type of sub your going to use...
using a sealed box will deliver the most accurate bass but it wont be that deep
using a ported or vented box will give you really deep but you loose some of the clarity and tightness of the sub
btw no you do not dynamat tweeters and pioneer makes a good tweeter, you can expect to pay around 70-100 dollars on them depending on which model you get.
bandpass will make it really loud but they sound horrible
if you have any more questions feel free to IM me at NOS4Brains85

I recommend Rainbow for the fronts and rears. They are a little expensive but you get natural and very precise sound. Plus, why do you need 6x9? Try to stay away from them and use 6.5.
Regarding dynamat, look for RAAM MAtt. Its only 40 dollars for 50 Sq feet, while Dynamat is like 200 bucks.
Use Zapco as an amp. And conserning the sub I highly recommend Image Dynamics. Don't have to get ID MAX, but IDQ 10'' will make it work perfect.
trust me, its been discussed before.

Plus, no matter what you buy it will work fine, but what you really need, and what every car needs, in my opinion is an EQ (control over your system).
Whitout it your stuck with factory setup, but with it you can make midbasses hit harder, tweeters be softer and all this stuff.
You can get Audiocontrol or Arc Audio for about 200 dollars. If you chose ZApco it might get a little expensive and will have only 5 FHZ oposing Arc Audio's 7 FHZ.
Good luck with that man.

OK I was thinking about doing the dynamat extreme door kit on the front doors and on the whole rear deck. But y'all are talking about this Peel-N-Seal and RAAM MAt...does it work better than dynamat or is it comparble to it and where could I get some?
Does that seem to be a good idea etreme doorkits on the front doors and extreme door kit cut to fit the rear deck? I don't want my car to be to heavy, cz I do a lil "recreational racing".
Thanks alot guys for all of the input so far, it seems that this may turn out to be a long process, hence buying the one or two sets of components a month. How much do you think the entire install cost? Considering they would install everything at once.
Thanks Again

I wouldn't use Peel-N-Seal again. Tried it once and I really don't think it worked as well as the others. I personally used Brown Bread on all four doors, trunk, back seat, and rear deck. It was really easy to work with and much cheaper than Dynamat. I suggested you take a look at the Damplifier since people are raving about it on other forums.
You should read through the How to sections and figure out what you can do yourself. It will save you a bunch of money and chances are you will do a better job than 80 percent of the shops out there. I would start out with a quality set of components for the front and maybe a headunit. If you have more money buy an amp for the front speakers and run headunit power to the rears. You might find a 3 or 4 channel amp and power the whole system off it. Man there are a lot of possibilities! Start shopping for front speakers, arguably the most important item on your list.

And trust me, never ask for which speakers are good, which are better!!!
1. The price wil tell you how good the technical quality is.
2. Listening to them will tell you how good they sound.
Never buy speakers before you first listen to them.
Many of us have had this experience before

The difference in the a ported box and sealed box is the sound it produce. Seal box is a hard hitting sound as for a ported box is for a smooth bass sound. Dynomating the trunk will help the bass echo in your trunk causing for a deeper bass tone and in you customize a port from you trunk into the vehicle, you'll notice a better bass drop.
Like with Mikesburn said......listen to speakers first becuase certain speakers have different sound quality depending on your needs. Some speakers are smooth as others are ear piercing. Oh and don't buy cheap amps cuz they don't produce the watt's they say. Other then that....good luck with your set up.
