Earthquake

I already have an alpine 9830 decka dn am looking to replace the speakers and add a few subs. Nothing really extreme. I went to a shop the other day and the dude showed me a nice setup for my ride. He had 4 earthquake red kevlar speakers with crossovers and 4 tweeters. 2x10" earthquake subs in a factory tube. and a 900 w earthquake 5 channel amp. He uses stinger cable and he said he can install everything for just under $1000.
What do you think. Keep in mind that the price might be a bit much due to the fact that I live so far away.
Is earthquake stuff good? what about those kevlar speakers they look pretty crazy.

older earthquake amps are pretty good for the money, just inherently unstable. I would go for what slick said , also add crystal components. Subs there are so many options

I have the deck already and want to spend like $1000 completely installed for the rest of hte stuff. It doesn't have to be crazy loud, just nice and loud enough to know it is no stock.

How about a set of crystal cpe60s components for front
adire koda 6 midbass for the back.
US acoustics USX 4085 4 channel amp for mids
Resonant Engineering 12" SE subwoofer
Ported box
JBL bp600.1 subwoofer amplifier

this will run probably about $900or so, then get an install.
That would be a good setup

I can't actually get most of that stuff here. I can get some JL stuff, Boston, low end JBL, Kicker, Earthquake, Rockford, lightning audio, soundstream, and mbquart (too expensive though). Using this stuff what would be good?

Why would I want a ported box?
Is a single 12 inch a good choice for a sub. Remember I am looking for good bass but not rock concert sound.
Can't I get one amp to run 4 speakers and 1 sub?

yeah i was afraid of giving you a total system based on what you can get where your located. you can get a 5 channel amp to run your whole system if you want. ported will make your sub have more spl and be louder. but what type of music do you listen to?

I listen mostly to rock stuff. Linkin Park, Blink 182, POD, Limbizkit etc. I also don't mind a bit of rap.
Better to have 2 amps then?
What about a single 12" good enough?
What about boston stuff? Would a 15" be a better idea?

hmm. maybe some jl or BA components up front with a 2 channel amp powering them. a jl w6v2 12" in a sealed box. and maybe a kicker amp powering that because buying a jl amp would put you way over budget. and for rear fill you can either leave it stock or buy some cheap 6.5 coaxials. it all depends on how much the stuff costs for you.

What do you guys think of lightning audio? I like the way their subs look (finish and style). I can get their (lightning audio) coaxials for the rear and bostons for the front.

Hey Macc Daddy. The only way you can be satisfied is after you listen to the speakers yourself. Never ask for which brand is better. I can name you 20 brands of the top of my head and they will all be good, but sound different. Listen to what they offer, if you like it - buy it and never regret.

Yes, my choice was RAINBOWS. But they are expensive. very natural, dynamic and soft sound. I ve listened to some cheap brands which sounded better then some of the expensive. For example: Eclipse. So always listen first
Good luck buddy

For the ba in front and the lightnings in the back it will cost me about $270 installed. The ba series is their mid series called rallye. I think they are still pretty good though.
That leaves me with 750 for 2 amps and a sub. Do I need a capacitor? cables will also cost me close to $135 (monster). What do you think about those square kicker subs?

I would install the system first and then decide if you need to add a cap or not. Your system doesn't sound that big so you might get by without one and they are pretty simple to add in later.

Decent choice with the Bostons up front.

What's wrong with the JL W6V2 subs, if heard them a few times and have been impressed.

Look into Soundstream amps, often overlooked, but still really good.
