what kind of box?
what kind of box?
Well i bought the rest of my "system"anyway i have 2 Kicker comp cvr12's and i need to know if i need a ported box, sealed box or bandpass. I want nice crisp controlled bass. Also what are the dimintions are the trunk under the back deck? what about side to side? thanks. Oh yea i have a pioneer 7500mp deck to a sony 600w 4-channel amp on Rockford fosgate componets in the front and pioneer 4-way speakers in the rear.
Sealed box will be easier and take up less space. A properly designed ported box will extend lower and yes, it would be even crisper than sealed, but would take up alot of space and take alot of designing to work properly.
I just recently built a 4.5 ft3 box tuned to about 30hz for a friend of mine for a single 15". Takes up half his trunk, but sounds so much better than the 2- 15's in sealed boxes before that.

There is a reason why no1 voted for them
They are called one hit wonders. They are loud at a certain frequency but anything below that they suck. Only advantage is it doesn’t take much power to get it loud, disadvantage is its also a lot easier to get those voice coils heated up. Not a very efficient box IMO.

I know this is an old thread, but I don't want people thinking bandpass boxes suck. When built correctly they'll sound just as good as a ported box. The problem is that they are much harder to build correctly, and all the prefab bandpass boxes give them a bad name. If you want a bandpass enclosure that sounds good, hit up your local stereo shop [assuming they are worth a darn] and be willing to pay for a well built box [quite a bit more than any sealed or ported box they would make to spec].
Off the soap box, now.

it took you a whole year to figure that out?

danhaman I agree with you 100%. I would not personally ever build a bandpass box because it just seems too difficult to have it built correctly so I will stick with ported.

well the ported would have more bass, but sealed would be a little more cleaner. and trust me when i had my cvr in a sealed box it hit dam loud. and bandpass are for fleamarket speakers, it just makes them sound louder.

yea, i started it a long time ago, anyways i got a q-logic sealed box and it sounded great! i made my back seat flap like a bird and it even made the roof kinda roll with the right bass, but then on my way to work one night some dumb a$$ lady
on the phone hit me and i spun around and hit a pole.
the pole cut into the rear of my car about halfway. car was still running though
but any ways now i have a 2001 infiniti i30, and i got one of those tiwianese dash kits so i could put a radio in my I30. Same setup except for the rear speakers and the sub, i got RF fanatic 2-ways and i got a kicker solo-baric L5 sounds good but i just fried my front crossovers so im looking for some new componets now
